Itinerary

 

Day 1: Sunday                                                             New York

Depart on South Africa Airways to Cape Town.

 

Day 2:    Monday                                                          Cape Town.

On arrival in Cape Town you will be met by the Somak representative and transfer to the Hotel. The rest of the day

at your leisure to explore the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront

Day 3: Tuesday                                                             Cape Town

After breakfast you travel along the Atlantic coastline via the scenic drives of Oudekraal to the fishing village of Hout Bay - join an (optional) boat cruise to seal island.  Cross over the mountain at Constantia Nek travel to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. You have the option of using the funicular or walk up to the main viewing site at Cape Point. We then leave the reserve and continue along the False Bay Coastline to lunch (cost not included) and then we visit the Penguin colony at Boulders beach. Then visit the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens before returning to the City and your Hotel at around 17h00. (B)

Day 4: Wednesday                                                     Cape Town

Today you explore the famous winelands of Western Cape. Depart from your hotel and travel to the scenic beauty of the Paarl wine region. Continue along the Berg River valley to the picturesque town of Franschhoek have the opportunity of walking through the quaint village, In the afternoon we will call in at the historic University town of Stellenbosch and also see the surrounding wine areas. During the course of the day there will be ample opportunity to taste some of the magnificent wines produced in this region and a suitable stop will also be made for you to enjoy a relaxing lunch (own cost) Late afternoon return to Cape Town and your Hotel. Day 5: Thursday                                                       Cape Town

Morning  tour of the “Mother City”. You begin your  excursion with the ascent of table mountain by cable car (the ticket for the cable car ticket is not included as the ascent is subject to the weather being suitable). After this visit the City center, see the Company Gardens the Castle of Good Hope and the Malay quarter. Travel past the residential areas of the Atlantic sea board .  Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the magnificent City of Cape Town – there are still many optional tours that are available –  historic Robben Island, Southern Cape Coast. (B)

Day 6: Friday                                                            Kapama Private Game Reserve

After breakfast you will be transferred to the Cape Town International Airport for your flight to Kruger National Park. On arrival at Hoedspruit Airport you will be met and transferred to Kapama Private Game reserve and to your Lodge. Afternoon game drive conducted in open 4X4 vehicles with experienced rangers and trackers – Kapama is home to all the major game species including the Big 5.  Return to the Camp for a sumptuous dinner. (BD)

Note: Kapama offers the unique opportunity of doing an elephant back safari – these are optional,

must be booked in advance.  the cost is $195 per person for 2 hours ride.

 

Day 7: Saturday                                       Kapama Private Game Reserve

Twelve thousand hectares of undisturbed bushveld form the backdrop for this game reserve where a multitude of birdlife and vast range of animal species, including the Big Five (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard) reside.  Kapama  Game Reserve also hosts the world-renowned Hoedspruit Research and Breeding Centre for Endangered Species, where visitors experience the privilege of viewing rare, endangered species at close range game drives with time in between to relax or go on a bush walk accompanied by a ranger.  There is also the cheetah research institute on the Kapama property which can be visited. Day 8: Sunday                                                           Johannesburg

After the morning game drive and breakfast, there is time to freshen up before transferring to Hoedspruit airport for the flight to Johannesburg departing mid day.  On arrival in the early afternoon, transfer to the hotel situated in the exclusive suburb of Rosebank. (B)

Day 9: Monday                                         Victoria Falls (Livingstone, Zambia)

This morning fly to Livingstone, Zambia. Met on arrival and transfer to the hotel of your choice. In the evening transfer to the jetty for the sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. The cruise is along the river boundary of the Mosi Oa Tunya National Park, around Siloka Island and back to The Waterfront jetty. The total cruise time is approximately 2.5 hours. From the boat, sightings of elephant, giraffe and even rhino coming down to the river to drink are common. There are also abundant, hippos, crocodiles and birdlife. Aboard the boat there is complimentary bar and serve freshly baked snacks. An experienced guide accompanies cruise and has good knowledge on the wildlife and local history of the area. (B)

Day 10: Tuesday                                                       Victoria Falls, Zambia

After breakfast depart on a guided tour of Victoria Falls, one of seven natural wonders of the world. This walking tour takes you through the magnificent rain forest where you are able to view the fall. Remainder of the day at leisure – return to the fall on your own (guests of the hotel have unlimited access), take an optional tour into the town or to a local village or relax at the hotel. There are a number of optional excursions available to fill your day: try a helicopter flight over the falls (flight of the angels), whitewater river rafting, gameviewing  on land or by boat, or a cultural visit to Chief Mukuni's village. Day 11: Wednesday                                                   Chobe National Park

After breakfast transfer by road to  Kazungula Ferry crossing at the border of Botswana and Zambia. After crossing the river drive to your Chobe National Park. After check in – reconfirm your game activities - this could either be a late afternoon cruise on the river , a 2.5 hour tour into the Chobe National Park by power boat bringing you up close to the abundant wild life or a game drive on land on 4 x 4 open vehicle. This is followed by dinner back at the lodge.

 Day 12: Thursday                                              Chobe National Park, Botswana

Morning and afternoon game activities (by open 4X4 vehicles or by boat) into the Chobe Game Reserve which is renowned for its large herds of elephant. The Chobe National Park covers 10,700 square Kilometers and indigenousto the park are Puku, the Chobe bushbuck and then other game such as lion, leopard, buffalo, kudu, giraffe and then

abundant birdlife.

Day 13: Friday                                                   Johannesburg / New York

Transfer to Livingstone Airport – Fly back to Johannesburg where you remain in

transit enjoying the vast array of
