The safari features a world-famous tree hotel overlooking a watering hole, the panoramic semi-desert of Samburu, the lush Mount Kenya region and the rolling plains of the Masai Mara. If you visit the Masai Mara National Reserve during migration—from approximately July to late October—you might observe hundreds of wildebeest crossing the Mara River.

Itinerary
Day 1:
Monday
Depart USA Let the
adventure begin when you board your overnight Virgin Atlantic flight to
London.
Day 2:
Tuesday
London Arrive at London Heathrow Terminal 3 and Kenya Airways
overnight flight to Nairobi. Hotel dayroom if
applicable.
Day 3:
Wednesday
Nairobi Your safari
adventure begins with a warm welcome by our Somak Safaris Tour Director
and your transfer to the luxurious Norfolk hotel. With its rich history
and British colonial charm, you will realize why it is considered one of
the “Leading Hotels of the World.” Begin your afternoon with lunch,
followed by a trip to the home and farm of the famous writer of “Out of
Africa,” Karen Blixen. Proceed to the Giraffe Center, where you have an
opportunity of hand-feeding the Rothschild Giraffes. Tonight’s dinner is
at the famous Carnivore Restaurant. (LD) Norfolk Hotel
Day 4:
Thursday
Aberdares Today you drive north through the rich farming areas
to the Aberdares Country Club. After lunch proceed to Aberdares National
Forest for a stay at the world famous Ark Lodge — a tree hotel. Here you
will have a unique opportunity to watch the animals drink at a watering
hole below the lodge. (BLD) The Ark
Day 5/6:
Fri/Sat
Samburu Return to Aberdares Country Club, pick up your excess
luggage and continue your safari adventure into the semi-arid land and
rugged landscape of Samburu Game Reserve, home to Samburu people. Your
luxury accommodation is situated on the banks of Uaso Nyiro River. Arrive
in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. On the following day you
have morning and afternoon game drives enable you to see wildlife unique
to this area of Kenya such as the Reticulated Giraffe, Grey’s zebra,
warthog, gerenuk, oryx, blue legged Somali ostrich and the elusive

Day 7/8:
Sun/Mon
Sweetwaters Private Game Serve This morning, drive south to
Sweetwaters Tented Camp set in the heart of a large privately owned game
reserve, enjoying magnificent views across the plains to the peaks of
Mountain Kenya. This is your accommodation for the next two nights. Arrive
in time for lunch and a late afternoon game drive. On the following day
you have morning and afternoon game drives in park. Also included is a
boat ride on the river to see Jane Goodall Chimpanzee Sanctuary. (BLD)
Sweetwaters Tented Camp
Day 9:
Tuesday
Masai Mara After breakfast, transfer to Nanyuki Air Strip
where you will say “kwaheri” (goodbye) to your driver/guide and board a
light aircraft for your flight to Masai Mara National Reserve.
(Please note that the baggage allowance on the light aircraft is 33
pounds; any excess luggage should be left with the driver/guide for
storage in Nairobi). On arrival in Mara, enjoy lunch and an
afternoon game drive. Mara Safari Club is in a secluded part of the Mara
Plains and is one of the most luxurious tented camps in Masai Mara. (BLD)

Day 10/11:
Wed/Thur
Masai Mara For the next two days, awaken to the sounds of
birds in these endless rolling plains dotted with acacia trees.The
scheduled morning and afternoon game drives provide you with an excellent
opportunity to photograph the abundant wildlife in this seemingly
limitless game reserve. On one of the mornings, you may opt for an early
morning hot air balloon safari (extra cost, $400.00 per person), which
gives you a bird’s eye view of the Mara plains before landing for a

Day 12:
Friday
Nairobi Enjoy breakfast at leisure as you prepare to bid the
Masai Mara goodbye. Fly to Nairobi for lunch and some last-minute shopping
and a chance to relax at your hotel. Early dinner at the hotel before you
are transferred to the airport for your overnight flight to London. (BLD)

Saturday
London/Arrive USA After an early morning
arrival in London Heathrow Airport, connect to your flight home to share
many unforgettable memories of Kenya with family and friends.(B)

coast travelers will overnight in

Norfolk Hotel |
LOCATION: A
five minute walk from the City Center Shops, Theatres and
Restaurants - twenty minutes from the airport. FACILITIES:

The Ark |
Set in the
heart of the Aberdares National
Park, The Ark Game Lodge
overlooks a floodlit waterhole
and salt lick which attracts a
host of awesome wildlife such as
elephant, rhino, leopard,
bushbuck and occasionally an
elusive bongo or giant forest
hog. The Ark is reached via the
Aberdare Country Club and is a
forty-minute drive. It is around
7 miles from Mweiga airfield; a
one-hour drive from Nyeri
airstrip and a two-hour drive
from Nanyuki airstrip. The Ark
has 60 "cabin-styled" rooms,
comprising of 6 singles, 37
twins, 10 doubles and 7
triple-bed cabins. All are
comfortably furnished and enjoy
a view of the forest waterhole.

decks is a lounge and a bar,
which remains open all night for
tea and coffee. |

Samburu Interpids |
The
most famous game viewing lodge
in the world overlooks a water
hole and salt lick high in the
Aberdare National Park. Treetops
is the original tree lodge,
legendary for its historical
royal connection, for the
animals it attracts and for the
sheer joy of exploring a tree
house visited by rhino,
elephant, buffalo, lion,
bushbuck, waterbuck and many
other species. The 50 twin
bedded rooms are small and neat
and cosy like cabins on board
ship. Dinner is imaginatively
served at refectory tables with
bench seating, which heightens
the sense of adventure and
stimulates conversation. |

Sweetwater Tented Camp |
Sweetwaters Tented Camp lies in
the heart of privately owned
24,000 acres of Sweetwaters Game
Reserve, enjoying magnificent
views across the game - studded
plains to the snowcapped peaks
of Mount Kenya. Sweetwaters
Tented Camp is a two and a half
hour drive from Nairobi.
Overlooking a floodlit
waterhole, the camp offers
visitors an opportunity to watch
and photograph animals in their
